Advocacy

Women In Motion’s foundation is built on amplifying the voices of women in the trucking industry. Through advocacy efforts like the Call on Washington, WIM champions equitable policies and fosters collaboration, working to ensure women thrive in every role.

Updates:

During WIM’s most recent Call on Washington, our members met with dozens of congressional offices and the Deputy Secretary of Labor to advocate for the restoration of a commonsense independent contractor standard. Following these meetings, the Trump Administration issued a proposed regulation that protects women’s ability to create their own trucking businesses.  Emily Williams, AVP of Transportation Business Development at Geotab and WIM Chair, had this to say about WIM’s successful advocacy:

“This proposed rule is an exciting development for our Women In Motion members as we've been advocating for this during our Calls on Washington for the past two years. We are looking forward to continuing the conversation and introducing policymakers to the women who chose to be independent contractors, entrepreneurs, and business owners.”
