Biography:
Melissa Wade is the Head of the Federal Government Affairs and Policy Engineering at Aurora, the Pittsburgh-headquartered company delivering the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly. Before moving to Pittsburgh in 2019, Melissa served as Chief Counsel for the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce. In this role, Melissa managed legislative priorities regarding the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, including consumer privacy, toy and fireworks safety, and the nation's first self-driving vehicle legislation to pass the U.S. House of Representatives.
Melissa began her career in Washington, D.C. at the National Retail Federation working on emerging technology policy. Melissa is an alum of the Moritz College of Law at the Ohio State University and the University of Miami where she was a Division 1 swimmer. Melissa is a proud living kidney donor to her husband, Byron, and they live in Cranberry Township, PA. Melissa serves on the Board of Directors for Beverly's PGH, GlobalWIN, and the Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association, and is a Leadership Pittsburgh XL Alumni.
